Mayco Stoneware Classic glazes are developed for artists working with mid- to high-fire ceramics, providing an expression characterized by depth, stability, and good color quality. Many of the glazes respond distinctly to texture, with secondary colors and nuances emerging on the surface. When used alone, the stoneware glazes can yield beautiful and natural color variations.
Application has a great impact on the final result. One coat provides a more transparent finish where the clay shows through, while two to three coats give a deeper and more saturated color. The result is also affected by the choice of clay, how thickly the glaze is applied, the firing program, and temperature.
The sample tiles shown are fired flat on white clay, using different firing methods and temperatures. As always, the final result may vary, and it is recommended to test the glaze on sample pieces before use on finished work.
