Mayco SW-131 Birch gives a beige-grey surface when fired at around 1240°C. At higher temperatures, especially in reduction firing, the glaze can develop a more creamy white expression with brown accents that are highlighted in the texture.
The glaze has been developed for stoneware firing within a temperature range of approx. 1200-1300 °C, and can be used in both oxidation and reduction. Stir the glaze well before use and apply several even layers to raw fired objects. The end result is affected by clay type, application and firing program.
For best results, it is recommended to test the glaze on test pieces before use on finished works. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for firing and temperature, and use normal precautions when handling glazes.
