Mayco SW- Stoneware Classic glazes are designed for use on medium to high-fired ceramics and provide stable results with good depth and an elaborate expression. Several of the glazes react clearly to texture, bringing out extra color tones and nuances in the surface.
How the glaze is applied has a major impact on the end result. One layer gives a lighter expression where the clay is partially visible, while two to three layers give a deeper and more saturated color. The choice of clay, the thickness of the application, firing program and temperature will all affect the finished result.
The sample tiles shown are fired flat on white clay at different temperatures and firing methods. As always, it is recommended to test the glaze on sample pieces before use on finished works.
